Computational Fluid Dynamics in Fan Development

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is an advanced tool constructed within computer-generated simulation software. CFD is commonly used to accurately predict the airflow performance of industrial fans.   Industrial fan manufacturers, such as our supplier; Rosenberg, utilise the software to create a simulation design of a fan in the early design stages. The software is based on Navier-Stokes equations which uses a combination of mathematics and physics to determine the motion of fluids (including plasma, gases, and liquids). It enables...

Understanding Static, Dynamic & Total Pressure In Air Movement

Pressure Definitions Static Pressure Static pressure is signed as Pst or sometimes on fan curves as Pfa. Static pressure is defined as “the pressure exerted by a still liquid or gas, especially water or air” This is the difference in pressure either across an element in the system, for example a carbon filter or a heating coil, or between the inside of the system and the outside atmosphere. Static pressure can be either positive or negative. Understanding the static pressure is useful when selecting the correct fan for the application. ...
